Why 2025 should be the year of giving back 🤲
A business practice that truly matters
Hi there,
Hope you’ve all had a great November and are feeling ready as we prep for the busy festive season and enter the winter months!
It’s been another jam-packed month at Wondrous and I attended several incredible events - more on those in January, and I’ll also be sharing insights on marketing trends for 2025.
As the final newsletter of 2024, it’s a joy to dedicate it to a project I’m personally very proud of.
It’s one of my all-time favourites and it has such a wider impact on the community, so it would be remiss not to share it with you when we’re all reflecting on goals for the new year.

Tree of Light: A Beacon of Remembrance and Connection
The festive period often brings a mix of emotions: joy, nostalgia, and for many, a deep sense of loss for those no longer with us.
It’s for this reason I’m honoured that Wondrous continues to support Mortons’ Tree of Light Memorial Service. While our client base mostly lies in fintech, I’m incredibly proud that we also contribute to meaningful work in other industries.
The annual memorial service, hosted by our client Mortons Funeral Directors, is available online at any time from Sunday 8th December, and is a heartfelt service to honour and remember loved ones we’ve lost.

A cherished tradition of the Tree of Light is the memorial stars. Individuals are invited to create a personal message for a loved one they have lost - a unique story, a memory, or a message of love.
Once handwritten by the Mortons team, these stars are lovingly placed on a towering Christmas tree, creating a beautiful display of remembrance to honour parents, siblings, friends, and others who’ve touched our lives.
Anyone is welcome to submit their own personal star to honour a loved one, and you can write your own here.
Whether sharing memories, sending heartfelt wishes, or simply writing “Merry Christmas,” these stars help bridge the distance of loss.
And for the first time since Covid, this year, Mortons also held an evening where the community could write and place their own stars on the Tree of Light.
The service itself (available from Sunday 8th December) welcomes everyone, whether or not Mortons handled their loved one’s funeral. It’s a space to celebrate memories through touching carols by the Salvation Army Band, readings from the Mortons team, and reflections from local clergy.
Mortons hold the Tree of Light Memorial Service because they are deeply passionate about remembrance and supporting those who are grieving, in their own community and beyond.
For them, it’s a heartfelt way of providing a space where people can reflect, connect, and honour the memory of their loved ones. It’s a testament to Mortons’ dedication to caring for people far beyond the scope of their business, and we at Wondrous are honoured to contribute to their success through our partnership, handling:
- Event branding
- Microsite design and build
- Email campaign
- Social media planning and asset creation
- Photography
- Banner design
- Video editing
- Filming support and art direction
- Press release
- Post-event survey

It’s important to us that the campaign truly does the event justice. The comprehensive support ensures that the content is impactful and memorable to honour its heartfelt purpose.
Overall, the contribution Mortons makes through their Tree of Light ceremony is truly uplifting and gives food for thought on how we too can give back and make a meaningful impact on our communities, and beyond.
We'll be back with more insights in the new year, and in the meantime, please note that Wondrous will be closed from midday on the 23rd December and will re-open on the 2nd Jan.
Wishing you a fantastic Christmas break, and we look forward to reconnecting in 2025!
Sally and the Wondrous team.
