Subscriber exclusive: Pro tips for short-form video📱

And our new product launch for tech businesses

Hi there,

January often gets a bad rap but I’ve personally loved this first month of 2025. I hope yours was good too and that February has kicked off to a great start.

At Wondrous we are making more of an effort to acknowledge every little win, milestone and goal so we can reflect on our growth at the end of the year. Here’s what some of the team have been excited about:

Creating visual experiences, from whitepapers to web design, is always rewarding, but ideation projects bring a unique challenge, two of which took shape in January.

Also, a focus on our explainer video has been especially engaging for the team, with atmospheric ocean-themed animations coming to life.

And as for me, this month I’m hugely excited to share the first in our Wondrous video series (exclusive to subscribers), a new team update, as well as our latest product announcement designed specifically for tech businesses.

Some January highlights

Top Tips for Filming and Editing Short Form Video

If you're not using short-form video in 2025, you're missing out. With platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels taking the lead, quick videos are concise, impactful, and give your audience exactly what they want without losing their interest.

In this video we break down the basics to help you feel confident in creating video content without being overwhelmed.

Whether you're filming on your phone or a camera, this episode focuses on practical tips to make your videos look professional without needing a ton of gear or experience. You'll save time, avoid common mistakes, and get your message across clearly, all whilst boosting engagement too.

Here are the main takeaways:

Portrait vs landscape orientation: Use vertical videos to take up more space in the LinkedIn feed.

Captions: Including captions increases video views by 80%. Leave the lower third of your screen clear for captions in portrait videos.

Simple camera tips: Always wipe your lens for better clarity and use the back camera for higher quality.

Filming with editing in mind: Film extra content to make editing easier and reshoot sections that feel off.

Aesthetic: Avoid plain backdrops. Add shelves, plants, or brand colours to keep it visually interesting.

Timing: Keep short-form videos between 30 to 90 seconds to hold attention.

CTA: End with a branded logo or call to action to build recognition and consistency.

We want these tips to actually be put into action! Take a screenshot to refer back to or forward this email to a team member who’ll find it useful.

Wondrous Team Update

In the summer of 2024 we welcomed Zion to Wondrous on a long-term work placement from Birmingham City University (BCU). Zion, who studies illustration, earned this opportunity through a competitive series of projects set for the entire student group.

We’re thrilled to announce that Zion has now joined Wondrous as a junior motion designer as part of our motion team. We can’t wait to see what fresh talent and creativity they will bring to our projects.
