Nurturing community through design

Hi there,

How was your October?

It’s been a busy one at Wondrous HQ. We’ve welcomed a student on work placement, welcomed aboard a new client and finished the month with my third visit to Birmingham Tech Week.

To top it all off, Ben and I were invited to the Birmingham Tech Awards - an inspiring evening celebrating the incredible achievements of our local tech community.

Here I am, pictured with Jody Webb from Shakespeare Martineau, one of the event sponsors, and Ben. Special thanks to Amar Rana of Fastcheck for the invite!

Community = beyond a buzzword

"Community" is a term that seems to be everywhere in marketing these days, but its essence goes much further than a buzzword on social posts.

Building a community around B2B brands is key to achieving lasting impact and maximising reach. For Zero Hash, a pioneering crypto infrastructure platform for financial institutions, this approach came to life at Zero Hash Connect, an exclusive event that brought together industry leaders and innovators in the heart of London.

How we helped Zero Hash drive $5m in new opportunities

When the idea for Zero Hash Connect was first ignited, the vision was clear: to create a genuine community where attendees would not only feel a sense of belonging but leave with a memorable, lasting impression.

The plan wasn’t simply to host a standard networking event, it was an opportunity to bridge traditional financial services with the emerging worlds of crypto and stablecoin technology.

With community at the core of our goals, we at Wondrous partnered closely with Zero Hash to cultivate a meaningful experience brought together through the power of thoughtful, purposeful design.

To support Zero Hash's goals, our team set out to:

  • Maximise event visibility among key target accounts

  • Generate buzz and anticipation across digital channels

  • Provide an on-brand, seamless attendee experience

  • Capture and repurpose content for continued post-event engagement

In collaboration with Shaun O’Keeffe, VP of Growth Enablement at Zero Hash, we developed visually compelling assets to bring Zero Hash's vision to life:

Event branding:
Following an initial ideation session, our creative team developed the overall Connect logo lock up using an inifinity symbol to demonstrate the underlying purpose of the event.

Landing Page Design:
We created a user-friendly, visually engaging landing page aligned with Zero Hash’s branding, simplifying registration and amplifying the event’s core messaging.

Video Teaser:
To drive pre-event excitement, we produced a high-impact video teaser with bold visuals and captivating graphics that communicated the event's value and built anticipation.

Social Media Assets:
Our team crafted shareable social posts, enabling event speakers to spread word of their participation, increasing reach within their professional networks.

Event-Day Videos:
We designed animated explainer videos as session openers to communicate complex topics clearly and dynamically, enhancing engagement with key messages.

Keynote Asset Design:
To elevate the CEO’s keynote, we developed simple yet effective animations that supported clarity and audience engagement.

Event Filming & Post-Production:
We arranged event filming, capturing critical moments and sessions, and we produced both full session recordings and social media snippets, contributing to over 10,000 minutes of post-event engagement.

Post-event Landing Page:
To maintain momentum and continue engagement with attendees and prospects, we developed a post-event landing page. This page, which recaps the event highlights, includes on-demand access to session recordings, speaker insights, and key takeaways. The page serves as a valuable resource for those who attended and a compelling touchpoint for new leads, extending the life of the event and driving further engagement with Zero Hash’s content.

Through our strategic approach and collaboration with Zero Hash, the event achieved measurable success:

  • $2M in new pipeline generated

  • $3M in opportunities across 10 existing clients

  • Attendance of 130 key executives from target accounts

  • Over 10,000 minutes of video engagement post-event

Our partnership with Zero Hash demonstrates how well-executed visual communications can hugely amplify event impact.

By aligning design and content creation with Zero Hash's objectives, we helped to deliver a seamless, engaging experience that extended far beyond the event, helping to establish Zero Hash's market presence and drive continued engagement.

If you’re ready to create a meaningful community through your B2B event communications, let’s talk!

Latest happenings at Wondrous HQ

We’re passionate about inspiring the next generation of talent, so we’re thrilled to welcome Zion who joins Wondrous on a long-term work placement from Birmingham City University (BCU).

Zion, who is studying illustration, earned this placement with us through a competitive series of projects set for the entire student group. We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity, with the intention of it leading to a permanent role.

Supporting local universities and colleges is an important part of Wondrous’ commitment to corporate social responsibility, and we’re proud to play a role in fostering local talent.

Welcome Zion!

In other news, we’re hugely excited to welcome Greenlite as a new client. At Greenlite, their mission is to empower financial crime teams to achieve more through the use of AI, which helps unlock capacity, investigate criminal activities, and continuously enhance their techniques. By doing so, they work to diminish the profitability of financial crime and contribute to a safer world.

Their ethos really resonates with us at Wondrous and we’re excited to champion Greenlite, helping to propel their brand forward at this exciting time.

Sneakers to success

I’m a self-proclaimed bookworm and love an opportunity to get lost in a good read. My recommendation this month is Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, the founder of Nike.

Phil is truly a gifted storyteller, and this book provides an honest look at the real story and people behind Nike. Interestingly, he wasn’t really into marketing - he preferred the reliability of accounting and even put an accountant in charge of the marketing team.

That said, while he may not have seen it that way, Phil had a marketing-led approach since they always had their customers' needs firmly at the forefront, constantly enhancing their shoes to improve performance for the athletes that wore them.

What really stands out in the book is Phil’s bravery, determination, and hard work. He had a knack for spotting great talent, but in my opinion, it was his connections with influential figures in the sports world that helped transform this fledgling idea into a global powerhouse.

Connect and collaborate

Two fantastic marketing events are marked in my calendar this month. First up is the Fintech B2B Marketing Roundtable to discuss key learnings from this year and opportunities that lie ahead in 2025 for leaders and influencers in the world of FinTech. Following that, I’ll be at rEVOLUTION with Digital Podge, a perfect opportunity to connect with other digital, design and creative leaders.

That’s all for this month but I'll be back in December with new insights on tech marketing and some exciting updates from Wondrous.

I really appreciate your feedback, so don’t hesitate to reply directly - I’d love to hear what you think. Wishing you a fantastic November!

Sally and the Wondrous team.
