📢 Exclusive product launch announcement 🆕

Plus, how to turn LinkedIn contacts into clients

Hi there,

I hope you’ve been able to have a relaxing switch off this summer. The busy autumn season is just around the corner as we settle back into routines of alarms, school runs and new projects at work after a much-needed sunshine state of mind.

Me enjoying these last remaining days of sunshine!

In this month’s newsletter, I’m sharing advice on boosting LinkedIn engagement and bringing digital connections off the screen and into your eco-system.

There’s also an exclusive product launch announcement for our loyal Wondrous subscribers I’m excited to reveal. You heard it here first!

Maximise your LinkedIn efforts

Love it or hate it (and I love it!) - We all know LinkedIn is a powerful tool for networking and marketing your company.

September is also a great chance to reconnect with your professional network and catch up with your LinkedIn connections as you gear up for a productive new month.

With so many myths around how to boost engagement to get more of the right eyes on your page, I took the opportunity to identify key characteristics behind my most engaged posts of the first half of this year and how they contributed to each post’s success.

Here are the main takeaways:

🥇 A Personal Post

LinkedIn is no longer just for business content. Sharing personal stories helps others connect with the real you, fostering trust and common ground. Showing your face also helps!

🥈 Something Helpful

Sharing valuable insights builds trust, which is key in sales and marketing. When you provide value, you're more likely to be remembered when it's time to buy.

🥉 Tell a Story

As the saying goes, facts tell, stories sell. Incorporating storytelling into your posts helps readers visualise and engage with your message.

However you design your content strategy, remember the more authentic and engaging your content, the stronger the connections you'll build.

From contacts to conversations

As you know by now, I’m a huge advocate of attending in-person events. They’re a great opportunity to meet new connections and possible leads - but what happens after you connect with someone?

Connections you make virtually should only be the launchpad to creating a connection personally. Limiting your relationships to a digital capacity will only limit your potential for great working relationships.

Here’s my checklist for nurturing your LinkedIn connections so you can bring your connections off social media and into your world - beyond the surface level likes and comments of your LinkedIn feed:

  • Personalised connection requests: When sending a connection request, include a personalised note explaining why you want to connect and hint at the mutual benefits of being connected.

  • Offer help and resources: If you come across an article, tool, or resource that could benefit a connection, share it with them. This demonstrates your willingness to help without expecting anything in return. Even better, ask if they are up for discussing it on a call.

  • Follow up after events: If you’ve met an interesting lead at an event and connect on LinkedIn afterwards, follow up with them soon after. If you’re not sure how to break the ice, ask how they implemented the takeaways from that particular event.

I hope this checklist comes in useful to turn your digital introductions into genuine collaborations that extend well beyond the LinkedIn feed.

Sun, sand and stories

I find summer the perfect time to unwind and recharge. It could be a book on the beach or tuning into a podcast while enjoying the sunshine (cocktail in hand optional!), but I’m sure you’ll agree there’s plenty of ways to relax whilst staying inspired.

Here are two books I enjoyed this summer if you’re keen for new recommendations to get stuck into:

"Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life" by Arnold Schwarzenegger

I found so many useful lessons in this book but one standout takeaway is the importance of having a personal vision.

Your vision acts as a goal to strive for and evolves as you achieve it, leading you to even greater ambitions. For example, if your initial goal is to start a business, once accomplished, you might set a new vision to grow it further.

Additionally, having a clear vision aids decision-making by helping you assess whether opportunities align with or divert you from your goals.

"Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" by Gabrielle Zevin

My favourite read during my Cyprus trip was Zevin's novel, a unique blend of coming-of-age, video game nostalgia, and friendship.

It tells the story of Sam Masur and Sadie Green, whose bond begins in a hospital game room and later flourishes at Harvard and MIT.

Their collaboration on the game ‘Ichigo’ brings both success and new challenges, and the novel's exploration of their complex relationship over thirty years makes it unforgettable. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this - definitely a must-read!
